Verona - Italy

Casa di Giulietta is an early 14th-century house at Via Cappello no. 23. It features the balcony, and in the small courtyard, a bronze statue of Juliet. It is one of the most visited sites in the town. The metal of its chest is worn bare due to a legend that if a person strokes the right breast of the statue, that person will have good fortune and luck in love.

The Castel Vecchio Bridge is a fortified bridge in Verona over the Adige River. It was built most likely in 1354-1356 by Cangrande II della Scala, to grant him a safe way of escape from the annexed eponymous castle in the event of a rebellion of the population against his tyrannic rule. The solidity of the construction allowed it to resist untouched until, in the late 18th century.

The etymology of the name Verona is unknown. it may be derived from Vera, perhaps an Etruscan person's name or it might be of Gallic origin it may be the name of a Roman family or come from the Latin ver, meaning "spring". But according to one legend the legendary founder of the city, the Gallic chieftain Brenno, called the new inhabited centre Vae Roma, that is "Accursed Rome", which then over the centuries became Verona.
