In April 2013 I went to Florence for vacations. I spent there 3 days. The city is just amazing. You don’t need to rent a car or even use a taxi . Everything you need to see is in an walking distance. If your planning to visit Florence and you want to see the museums there, the best way is to buy a ‘Firenze Card’ (http://www.firenzecard.it/ ) , you can buy it on-line or when you arrive at the "Pallazo Vecchico" which is located at the central square called "Piazza della Signoria" . It’s going to cost you 50 euro but will save you lot's of money. With this card you can visit 72 differend museum without paying more and the best of all without waiting on the long lines. If you are a citizen in any European union country and you have a child with you (up to 17 years) or an old member of your family (more than 65 years) you don’t need to pay for them. They can use your card for FREE.

The best places to go visit there for sure it’s "Uffizi Gallery" and the "Academia Gallery". My best place actually was "Pallazo Pitty" and "Gallileo's Museum". Don’t miss "The Bargelo Museum" which is the national museum of Florence and of cource don’t miss to visit the " Museo dell' Opera del Duomo" just behind the Big church. In there you will find the real "Porta del Paradiso" .

Check out some pictures with more details in my photo gallery. If you are planning to visit Florence feel free to contact me for more tips. I will be glad to help you out.
