Milan Cathedral

Milan Cathedral is the cathedral church of Milan. Dedicated to Santa Maria Nascente it is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan, currently Cardinal Angelo Scola. The Gothic cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. It is the fifth largest cathedral in the world and the largest in the Italian state territory.

A souvenir model of the cathedral was thrown at the nose of Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi during an attack on December 13, 2009. In the song "In Every Age" from the musical Titanic the building is compared with the Pyramids and the Titanic as one of the greatest feats of architecture.

The Last Supper

The Last Supper is a late 15th-century mural painting by Leonardo da Vinci in the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan. It is one of the world's most famous paintings, and one of the most relentlessly studied, scrutinized, and satirized of famous paintings. Two early copies of The Last Supper are known to exist, presumed to be work by Leonardo's assistants. The copies are almost the size of the original, and have survived with a wealth of original detail still intact.

Sforza Castle is a castle in Milan. It was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan, on the remains of a 14th-century fortification. Later renovated and enlarged, in the 16th and 17th centuries it was one of the largest citadels in Europe. Largely remade by Luca Beltrami in 1891-1905, it now houses several of the city's museums and art collections.

The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is one of the world's oldest shopping malls. Housed within a four-story double arcade in central Milan, the Galleria is named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy. It was designed in 1861 and built by Giuseppe Mengoni between 1865 and 1877.

Pirelli Tower , is a 32-storey, 124.1m skyscraper in Milan. The base of the building is 1,900m2, with a length of 75.5m and a width of 20.5m. The construction used about 30,000m3 of concrete. The building weighs about 70,000tones. n 1950, Alberto Pirelli, the president of the Pirelli Company, ordered that a skyscraper be built in the area where the corporation's first factory was located in the 19th century. The project was developed by architect Gio Ponti.

The Galleria is often nicknamed il salotto di Milano , due to its numerous shops and importance as a common Milanese meeting and dining place. The Galleria is famous for being home to some of the oldest shops and restaurants in Milan, such as Biffi Caffè (founded in 1867 by Paolo Biffi, pastry chef to the monarch) the Savini restaurant, the silverware store Bernasconi and the Art Nouveau classic Zucca's Bar.
